I have a confession. I love shooting weddings and rock concerts. But secretly, I am a porn photographer.

Not that kind of porn. Honestly, you and your filthy mind.

What I mean to say is that I create food porn. With a place setting, crockery and a gourmet symphony of ingredients and passion, I help to make your mouth water and unleash the hunger pangs upon sight. I create a feast for the eyes.

Whether it is for a restaurant or for a chef, food photography is a key to creating a brand and reputation in the culinary sector.  In advertisements and on digital media, consumers “taste” with their eyes, and more importantly, they make the decision to visit or book a table based on what they see. For educated foodies, image is everything – and they are just as important as good reviews and positive word of mouth.

With new food blogs appearing everyday, cooks taking their skills to the digital airwaves, and the growth of social media platforms like Instagram, SnapChat and others, a great food image is a highly sought-after commodity. But with so many pictures of food on the web, it may seem like a natural reaction to going it alone. Snap a picture of today’s special, slap on an Instagram filter (Nashville is my personal favourite), and, voila, a food photo that will drive the customers into your restaurant or shop in droves… or will it?

Where would rather go to eat? Or cook yourself?

While customer-generated content and images is great for creating buzz and shares. as a brand, customers expect to see professional images. They lend credibility and quality the brand that amateur pics cannot. And because we are so driven by images in social media, a properly composed and well-shot picture will help you stand out from the rest.

Branding touches and intersects with all aspects of a business, especially in the food and beverage sector. No matter your size, your marketing, operations, sales and revenue are all tied to your branding. Brand image plays a key role in your future success, and no one can deny that image is often visual.

So maybe I am not a pornographer. If that was the type of thing you were looking for, Metro has you covered. But I do have a passion for taking great pictures. I love taking pictures of food almost as much as I enjoy tasting it afterwards. Have a look at my gallery of foodie pictures to see what I am talking about.

While you’re there, have a look around the site and let me know what you think. Bon appetit!

I love social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, you name it. Hit me up over there and tell me what you think about food and food porn.
